Doddington Place ParklandNewnham is set in a valley and entering from the west (From Doddington) first you travel through the scenic half mile between the two villages with rolling fields on the right and on the left parkland of Doddington Place (which is just visible on the top of the hill). Doddington Place has gardens open to the public (see website) and several events during the year including opera (Dates in the village diary).

Halfway between the two villages, situated on the right, is the war memorial remembering the dead of two world wars. The names of the fallen are inscribed on the face towards the village from which they came.

Westend of NewnhamCalico & New CalicoAs you enter Newnham (The Street) on the left are terraced cottages and a olde worlde rambling cottages follow on the left side until Calico House. and next door the new building 'New Calico'.

On the right are generally newer buildings until you draw level with the turning on the left, Sharsted Hill which leads to Sharsted Court.

Following the road as it winds to the right there is Newnham Church on the right and a row of pretty terraced cottages on the left which follow the road round to the left and you see The George Inn, whose large garden is used for the annual village fete held in June. Behind the George is 'Hilly Field'.

Sharsted HillOpposite is the turning for Seed Road on the corner is Newnham Village Hall next to the lumber yard. Further up Seed Road on the right is The Tapster

View from the George looking EastFollowing The Street past the George there are many historic buildings, some thatched, including Little Thatch as you leave Newnham (heading towards the A2 and Faversham) Sharsted sports ground is on the right, which is used regularly for cricket and local youth football club matches and annually vintage motorbike club camps there.
