Forge Farm was in 1925 the farm house of some 127 acres used primarily for sheep and cattle grazing and situated between Newnham Street and Eastling Hill as far south as Foxen Wood. In earlier days it had probably been more extensive. Its yards and agricultural buildings were opposite the house and the four-roomed thatched cottage, now known as Little Thatch was part of the estate.
