Notes of meeting held on Monday 14th June 2010.
Present: Cllrs Cuthbert, Attwood, , Jarrett, Cowan, Stiles, the clerk and one member of the public.
Apologies: Were received from Cllrs Bowles and Prescott.
Vacancy on Parish Council: A vacancy has arisen due to the resignation of Cllr Jones due to other commitments. Deadline for applications mid-day 5th July.
Extension of Allotment Site: Due to take-over of two of the sites there will only be 2 applicants from the ‘villages’ on the waiting list. In view of this situation the Allotment Association has decided to postpone any further plans to extend the site for the time being.
Affordable Housing: All cllrs were in favour of discussing this situation with Tess O’Sullivan at ACRK.
SBC Draft Third Sector Strategy – Cllrs resolved not to make any response.
Neighbourhood Watch: Nothing to report in May. However, the Co-ordinator continues to pass on Trading Standards information on recent scam reports.
Planning Matters:
Wellwood Farm Appeal: SBC have confirmed that the PC will be kept informed of any developments regarding the enforcement procedure.
Yew Tree outside Yew Tree Cottages: There were no objections to the trimming work and this has now taken place.
Foam Warehouse: Cllrs had observed that the foam warehouse is for sale and discussed how development of the site could be supported. The Clerk will enquire of SBC Conservation Officer whether any part of the premises is listed.
Highways:
The report on visit from Mr Huckle about excessive signage has not yet been received. There is a mention on the Parish Portal that a request has been made to remove the School Signs on Chequers Hill plus a 30mph roundel and some signs on and at the foot of Wychling Hill are to be removed.
Damaged Grit bin has been removed and KHS have advised that a new bin will be in place in October.
The potholes in the service trench by Yew Tree Cottages will be reported again, plus a pothole at the side of the road just before Erriott Wood corner.
Drains in the Old Lenham Road – The Clerk reported that there had been great difficulty arranging for the drains, some of which were completely blocked, to be cleared. The clerks and a residents persistence resulted in the drains being cleared on 10 June. However it has been noted that pipe between the 2 drains at the rear of Laurel Farm are blocked. It was proposed that the Clerk update the map held, sending a copy to KHS and requesting details of their proposals to provide extra gullies in Spratts Hill and a regular maintenance programme to clear the drains.
Playing Field: Arboricultural Condition Survey- Six trees require immediate or medium priority work. It was noted that no specialist work was needed and that Cllrs Jarret & Stiles were prepared to undertake necessary work.
New goal post at West End had now been sited.
Information on grants for wet pour surfacing to replace tiled areas is till awaited.
Next Meeting: Monday 12th July 2010 at 8pm Doddington Village Hall.
