A BUTCHERS SHOP FOR OVER 200 YEARS
S.W Doughty's has changed very little since it was built in 1789 by Henry Norrington.. Under the front canopy the hooks from which sides of meat once hung still remain. It remained in the Norrington family until it was sold in 1865 to one Thomas Monk. The Monk family continued to run the shop for about 40 years until the early 1900's when it was taken over by Sydney Boulding. Shortly after the First World War the present family took over the shop and continued the tradition of high qualtiy butchers. Many customers travel long distance to buy meat from Mr Doughty's. The shop is renowned for the quality of it's meat, particularly sausages for which it has won several prizes.
Customers travel many miles to visit Doughtys the butcher because of the high quality meat and traditional values.
